A Place to Belong: Building Capacity for 2SLGBTQ Youth Housing
This project builds on the strengths of Pride Home through sharing resources and building the capacity of other 2SLGBTQ organizations in SK, MB, and AB around 2SLGBTQ youth housing. We will assist various sites in developing localized strategic plans to meet 2SLGBTQ housing needs as well as to engage with local stakeholders and funders around long-term project sustainability.
Our project, while coordinated out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan will service and support urban centres across the prairie provinces. In particular we will work with 2SLGBTQ Centres and related housing agencies in the following locations: Winnipeg, MB, Regina, SK, Prince Albert, SK, and Edmonton, AB. The project staff will travel to each site throughout the project and work closely with local agencies and stakeholders to support capacity building around 2SLGBTQ youth housing.
What's Involved?
The success of the project will be measured according to the following objectives:
1. Networking and Collaboration: Increased inter-provincial collaboration and knowledge-sharing around 2SLGBTQ youth housing and homelessness, including avenues to improve access to and quality of services within the mainstream housing sector.
2. Resource Development and Distribution: Increased access to relevant data and research, including evidence-informed models for 2SLGBTQ youth housing through the development and distribution of a national needs assessment, an environmental scan, and a 2SLGBTQ youth housing blueprint that includes a policy and procedures manual, intake forms, and localized funding strategies.
3. Education and Training: Increased knowledge of effective and holistic models for 2SLGBTQ youth housing within the housing sector provincially and across the prairies through the provision of at least ten educational workshops on 2SLGBTQ youth housing to at least 150 members of the target population
