fYrefly in Schools X OUTSaskatoon: 2017 Partnership
In 2017 OUTSaskatoon made a formal partnership with fYrefly in Schools that resulted in the creation of the fYrefly Saskatchewan coordinator position. This new role aims to meet the high demand for LGBTQ2S education in urban, rural, and northern schools in Saskatchewan. It has allowed OUTSaskatoon and fYrefly in Schools to expand our educational programming, educating hundreds of students, educators, and administrators across the province.
All content is age-appropriate and connected to Saskatchewan curricula. Students will be introduced to LGBTQ2S terminology and identities through LGBTQ2S-friendly books (Kindergarten - Grade 3) or an interactive, student-led presentation (Grade 4 - 8, 9 - 12). Students will also take part in a class discussion that focuses on reducing discrimination, increasing awareness of LGBTQ2S people and issues, and what inclusive spaces look and feel like.
We can provide
- Individual class presentations
- Presentations to multiple classes
- Free, within Saskatoon
- Presentations outside of Saskatoon must have mileage, meals etc covered
