DIY Queer 101

Thank you for taking an interest in educating your students on LGBTQ2S (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Two Spirit) identities, experiences, and topics. Over the past few years the demand for presentations has greatly increased and therefore, at peak times of year, we are unable to fulfill all requests. However, we know and are confident that educators also have the skills and know-how in order to educate students on LGBTQ2S identities. Below we have compiled a lesson plan, resources, and discussion questions for you. Our best tip is that your students already know about plenty of this; let them guide the conversation; create a safe space for them to ask questions and challenge stereotypes they may have learned. By having you talk about the LGBTQ2S community, you are normalizing our identities, and confronting the idea that our community is a taboo topic.
