CBC: Second Chance Prom Launches 2-Week Pride Festival In Saskatoon
When it came time to choose a date for her high school prom, Amanda Klassen already knew she didn't like boys.
"However, I didn't know what my options were at that time," she said.
"So I took a friend with me and discovered later I was lesbian and that's just the way I was born."
Now Klassen has a second chance to go to prom, and this time she's free to take the date of her choice.

Canada’s first long-term group home for LGBTQ youth has opened its doors in Saskatoon.
The first two residents moved into OUTSaskatoon’s Pride Home at the end of January. The space gives people a safe place to live with access to the non-profit’s services, like youth programming and counselling.

Canada’s first long-term group home for members of the LGBTQ community has opened in Saskatoon.
Two youth moved into the west side home late last month and staff at OUTSaskatoon, the non-profit organization running the home, hope to welcome three more young people aged 16 to 21 to “Pride Home” this spring, if a fundraising campaign is successful.
