Helen Stirling has a Master degree in Social Work and a post-graduate/advanced diploma in Art Therapy. Helen is a certified Laughter Leader - Expert Level Practitioner and Certified Joyologist. Helen has been working as a Social Worker since May 1994 in a variety of diverse agencies and specializes in anger and emotions management, grief, family of origin, trauma, issues related to incarceration, intergenerational effects; working with Indigenous and non-indigenous children, youth and adults. Helen offers an eclectic and integrative approach to therapy, using a variety of counselling theories, including Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Expressive Arts Therapy, Strength-Based Approaches, Narrative Approach, Choice Theory/Reality Therapy, Systems Theory, and Solution Focused Therapy. Helen is an approved Mental Health Therapist with Non-Insured Health Benefits, Indigenous Services Canada, Victim Services, and an EAP/EFAP Provider and is approved through most insurance plans
